7) The Girl in the Fireplace
Simple, elegant, charming, and emotional, The Girl in the Fireplace, has it all. The Clockwork Droids still occasionally haunt my dreams, and they were extremely menacing as villains. The chemistry between David Tennant and Sophia Myles (Madame de Pompadour) is superb, and although Reinette only features in this one episode, it is still a bit of a tear-jerker at the end when the Doctor discovers that he returned to late to travel with her, and that she died waiting for him. It has aged terrifically, and is sure to be cemented as a classic from the revival era.
