The West End Production of TINA – The Tina Turner Musical will return on 28 July 2021, at Aldwych Theatre in Covent Garden, London.

Aisha Jawando will be playing the leading role of Tina Turner, after having played the role of Alline Bullock (Tina’s sister) since the musical premiered in 2018. Jawando has previously played the eponymous role of Cinderella in Hackney Empire’s pantomime, and Martha Reeves in Motown The Musical.

Turner herself is associated with the creation of the musical, alongside director Phyllida Lloyd and writers Katori Hall, Frank Ketelaar and Kees Prins. The musical follows the star’s journey to stardom and recounts the difficulties that she faced.

“We are delighted to announce that TINA – The Tina Turner Musical plans to return to the West End from 28 July 2021,” a statement on the musical’s website said.

“The producers of the show had hoped to open the production sooner, but the scale of the show and Government restrictions meant that sadly this wasn’t possible. We know how much you were looking forward to seeing the show and cannot express how grateful we are for your support and patience during this time.”

The timing coincides with the recent news that Turner will be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame as a solo artist.

Bookings for the show have been extended all the way until June 2022, including Sunday performances. Tickets are available online.
