The Edinburgh Fringe is likely to reach its final fundraising goal of £200,000.
FringeMakers has currently raised over £180,000 through its fundraising campaign.
The campaign has seen the success of digital fundraiser AJ Bell Fringe on Friday, a weekly Fringe variety show. The final instalment will take place on Friday 28 August, with drag queen and pop singer Courtney Act hosting. Other acts featuring are Briefs, Le Gateau Chocolat, Stiff & Kitsch, Megan Shandley, Kid X, Farr Out, Craig Hill, Michael Odewale, Helen Duff and Alfie Ordinary.
The show costs £9 and is available on demand until Monday 31 August.
Courtney Act has expressed her excitement for the final instalment of the show. She said: “It’s incredible that we’ve managed to raise over £180,000 for artists and venues. Help us smash the £200k target by buying a ticket for AJ Bell Fringe on Friday, which is helping keep the arts going, as well as providing some much-needed fun.”
The proceedings of the FringeMakers crowdfunding campaign will go to recovery funds for Fringe artists and venues. Artists and venues will keep 100% of ticket earnings in a time that is proving difficult for the creative industry due to COVID-19.
