New York indie group The Strokes have been announced as the latest headliners of Barclaycard British Summer Time, in what will be their first show on British soil in over four years.

June 18 is the date set for Julian Casablancas and co. to take to the main stage and entertain the somewhat neglected British fans with their best tracks, hand-picked from their 5 studio albums. This year’s BST will be the first time any songs from 2013’s Comedown Machine will get an airing on UK turf.
After a social media pandemic following posts about ‘imminent news’, the band’s website announced: “’tis true! We’re returning to London to headline Hyde Park on June 18th. And we’re pretty damn thrilled that none other than Beck and Future Islands are joining us.”
Fans of The Strokes should be sure to get their hands on tickets, (which go on sale this Friday at 9 a.m.) for what may be their only glimpse of the band this summer, with no other festival dates booked thus far.
The Strokes taking to the BST stage accounts for only part of the summer excitement, with Blur set to headline Hyde Park just two days after The Strokes, on June 20 as well as The Who, performing alongside Paul Weller, Kaiser Chiefs and Johnny Marr on June 26.
