Tom Brady, NFL legend and one of the most iconic athletes of all time, is getting a scripted limited series about his reign at the top of the National Football League as the starting quarterback of the New England Patriots.

The series will cover Brady’s journey from a 6-round draft pick in the 2000 NFL Draft to his seven Super Bowl wins. It will also cover the many ups and downs in between, such as the Aaron Hernadez murder case, the Deflategate Scandal, and the relationship between the star and his long-time coach Bill Belichick.

Paul Tamasy and Eric Johnson, writers of The Fighter (a film about Micky Ward, a boxer who had a tough path to greatness), are working on a series. They are adapting the 2018 Casey Sherman and Dave Wedge best-selling book, ’12: The Inside Story of Tom Brady’s Fight for Redemption’.

The Patriot Way will mark the third collaboration between the screenwriters and authors Sherman and Wedge. They previously worked together to adapt Sherman’s book ‘The Finest Hours’, which later became a 2016 Disney film. The film of the same name won two awards  for Film Composer of the Year from the World Soundtrack Awards in 2016 and Greg Gillespie, the director, won the Truly Moving Picture Award from Heartland Films.

Ellen Goldsmith-Vein of Gotham Group is set to produce the series. They have famously produced The Maze Runner films, which received a 6.4 average rating on IMDB but made a Total $949 million across the three films.

In an interview with Deadline, the filmmaking team said they won’t be seeking any image rights to portray Brady or The Patriots because the NFL great and his former colleagues are public figures, and Tom Brady himself won’t be involved in the series.

There is no clear release date for the series as of yet.
