The Mandalorian has become one of the flagship shows of the Disney+ streaming platform. Such has been the popularity of the programme that Season Two was practically guaranteed before the final episode aired. As production was completed before the Covid-19 pandemic hit, all we have been waiting for is the date. Well, now fans have been told that worldwide streaming will begin on October 30, 2020. The show will follow the same format as before, with one episode released per week.

With the Star Wars movies receiving mixed critical reviews and other planned movies and shows delayed by the pandemic, The Mandalorian is now the shining light at the centre of the Star Wars universe. The show follows a mysterious Mandalorian, Din Djarin, played by Pedro Pascal (Game of Thrones), and his precious cargo of The Child, popularly referred to as Baby Yoda. The Space-Western has spawned an online collection of Bay Yoda memes, developed a large fan base, and received a positive reception from critics. In fact, the reward has been so positive that The Mandalorian has received no less than 15 Emmy Award nominations.

As well as the return of Pascal and The Child, it is has been confirmed that Giancarlo Esposito (Better Call Saul) will return as Moff Gideon, Gina Carano (Deadpool) as Cara Dune, and Carl Weathers (Rocky) as Green Karga.

It has also confirmed that the use of rotating directors will continue for Season Two. This method was unique in that it gave each episode a slightly different feel. Jon Favreau (Iron Man) is set to return as the lead director and it is rumoured that Robert Rodriguez (Dusk Til Dawn), Carl Weathers, and Bryce Dallas Howard (Jurassic World) will be among the cast of episode directors.

At the moment little is known about the proposed storylines for the second season and a trailer has not yet been released.  Strong rumours suggest that season two will build upon the character ark of the main antagonist, Moff Gideon, and introduce a fan favourite from the main Star Wars movies, Boba Fett.

Get set for the Razor Crest to launch again on October 30th.
