Kramer vs. Kramer is a coruscating, Oscar-winning film that definitely goes down as one of my all-time favourites, especially the soundtrack, which really stuck with me. It consists of three classical pieces that are repeated throughout the film. One of the songs is Vivaldi‘s Concerto in C Major and is on my revision playlist as, principally, it astounded me. The fast paced music involves a powerful orchestra which focuses my mind as it reminds me of the relationship that the two characters, Ted and his son Billy possess, as the mother of the family recently walked out on them. It inspires me as Ted is so determined and loves his son very much, and the resulting relationship between the father and son is very much as another character puts it, “the two of them together, it’s just beautiful. You just have to see them together.” Ted really works hard at work as well as at his relationship with Billy, which consequently makes me feel motivated to do my work just as Ted would – whilst balancing both parental roles, the stress of work/unemployment and a lawsuit. Finally, the song also reminds me of Dustin Hoffman, who plays Ted, a handsome, talented and strong-willed actor who invigorates me further.
