Season 3
6. Kendall’s confession – “All The Bells Say” (Season 3, Episode 9)
After two seasons of carrying guilt, Kendall finally opens up about the waiter incident, but this time to his family members who truly care for him. Jeremy Strong’s performance once again shines, delivering Kendall’s “I’m all apart” line with simplicity yet immense impact. Jesse Armstrong aptly described Kendall’s confession as “something terrible… but there’s something liberating as well.”
For the first time since their teenage years, the siblings find their way back to each other. It’s heartwarming to witness Shiv and Roman’s concern for their brother, expressed in their own unique ways. Roman through humour, and Shiv by downplaying it but still providing comfort. This scene captures the addictive essence of the show, showcasing the siblings’ fights alongside their deep and unwavering love for one another. When it truly matters, they will stand by each other, and it’s this quality that prevents us from truly hating any of them. These glimpses of humanity, particularly in Kendall, remind us of their shared traumas and humanity. It doesn’t excuse their actions, but it fosters deep empathy.
