The Cher Show is set to make its European debut next year with a new production directed by Arlene Phillips.

Phillips is joined on the creative team by Strictly Come Dancing’s Oti Mabuse as choreographer, and costume designer Gabriella Slade, who previously worked on Six.

With a book written by Rick Elice, the award-winning writer of Jersey Boys and The Addams Family, the show follows the pop sensation’s life, using three actresses to portray her at different ages.

It contains 35 of Cher’s biggest hits, including ‘If I Could Turn Back Time’, ‘I Got You Babe’ and ‘Believe’.

Arlene Phillips has promised that the show will be “a non-stop journey of Cher’s rollercoaster life, bringing to the audience Cher’s iconic songs, glorious dance numbers, unique costumes and her epic drama.”

The tour will kick off at the Leicester Curve on 15 April 2022, and will head to 36 other cities before concluding on 1 April 2023.

The casting for the production is to be announced at a later date.

The Cher Show premiered in Chicago, before opening on Broadway in 2018. It starred Stephanie J Block, Jarrod Spector, and Teal Wicks, and won Tony awards for Best Costume Design and Best Actress in a Musical.
