A Celebration of Endings // Biffy Clyro – Sophie McVinnie

Released: 14 August 2020

It’s not been uncommon this year for artists to branch out in style and try new things with their audiences. Biffy Clyro took the leap of faith with A Celebration of Endings and it’s pleasantly surprising how excellently they’ve refined their sound.

The band of three kept some rock classics with ‘Cop Syrup’ and ‘Tiny Indoor Fireworks’, but one of the best surprises came from ‘Space’. This is the first album they’ve produced with such a beautifully intimate track overflowing with emotion from the past year. What’s more, Biffy Clyro went back to Abbey Road Studios to record an orchestral version which rounded off the atmospheric track perfectly. Along with it, ‘Instant History’ is one of their shiniest tracks yet, almost closer to pop rather than rock. A truly brilliant album to be proud of.
