The first details of Tales of The Shire: A Lord of the Rings Game have been revealed with a new trailer.

Set to release on consoles and PC later this year, the game will see players live out their lives as a Hobbit in the village of Bywater. As the village grows, players can forge new friendships and uncover lost treasures of the Shire as they explore the land around their homestead. There may also be a few familiar faces popping up as players progress through the story and grow Bywater into a thriving community for Hobbits.

Kelly Tyson, head of product at Wētā Workshop, commented: “We’re excited to provide players with the opportunity to fulfil their fantasy of living their own humble Hobbit life in the Shire. Tales of the Shire brings a cosy new dimension to the way fans can experience Middle-earth, with plenty of wholesome, Hobbit-centric gameplay to win-over newcomers to the genre.”

While no set release date has been confirmed, the game’s latest trailer states the game will be coming this year. The trailer also gave players a first look at some of the in-game features, including fishing, gardening, cooking and foraging.

Tales of The Shire: A Lord of the Rings Game is due to release this year and is available to wishlist now.
