Another Brick in the Wall, Part 2 // Pink Floyd
This anthem is a well-known song in regards to adolescent anarchism, and expresses direct anger at the oppressive state of the education system. The video to this track has become iconic in its totalitarian regime style setting, with children portrayed as manufactured items, though it all ends in flames thanks to the violent rebellion started by the school kids who don’t need no education.
Looking at the song in more detail, the lines “All in all it’s just another brick in the wall / All in all you’re just another brick in the wall” are the most important. In the bigger picture, the entire album (titled The Wall) describes the construction of a metaphorical wall that isolates the persona from their emotions and the outside world. The “it” mentioned then is the generally awful state of the education system that has contributed to the persona becoming trapped within themselves. The following “you’re just another brick in the wall” speaks more generally, pointing out that every school kid is just another faceless item that makes up the system.
