Song of the Week (19th October): You Come Over, You Go // Co-Pilgrim

Spinning a dreamy, wistful world entirely of its own, this track from Co-Pilgrim is an autumnal triumph. With the harmonies of a Bon Iver song and the momentum of a C86 band, ‘You Come Over, You Go’ stands up to multiple listens; its surface simplicity masks a detailed, intricate piece that keeps its cards close to its chest. The breezy opening chords contrast with the beautifully-depicted helplessness of Mike Gale’s vocals, reminiscent of Flyte’s similarly season-perfect ‘Light Me Up’.

For a band that has been together for 10 years, Co-Pilgrim show themselves still capable of producing inventive and wonderfully-crafted tracks, while their age brings an indispensable maturity to their sound. ‘You Come Over, You Go’ is a must for any self-respecting Autumn playlist, and is a gateway to Co-Pilgrim’s enchanting work.

Their album ‘Slows to Go’ is out now on Battle, and you can catch them live in Oxford and Winchester next week.
