Single Review: We Got Nothing // Alex Winston

It’s felt like a long time coming for Alex Winston, but the indie pop artist seems to have finally found her feet since the release of her debut album King Con three years ago. Made famous for her 2011 hit ‘Velvet Elvis’, Winston has spent what feels like forever writing and recording new material, but now she’s back – and it feels like she’s here to stay.

‘We Got Nothing’ could quite possibly be the most exciting of Winston’s releases thus far: with a strong drum beat intro, synth-heavy verses and a powerhouse chorus, it’s been worth the wait. Winston seems to have stepped up to high expectations of her debut with this follow-up.

‘We Got Nothing’ is part of a two-track 7″ vinyl (out now) released by Neon Gold Records, with Winston’s sophomore album scheduled for release later this year. If this track is anything to go by, 2015 is looking very promising for the American singer.
