After the distinct change of sound heard on previous single ‘Believe’, which left fans undecided, there was anticipation for what was to come from the London band. They certainly delivered with ‘The Wolf’. Aside from all the folk vs. new sound politics that will evidently occur, the song prevails in all colours of indie rock.

Impactful guitars sit perfectly alongside lead singer Marcus Mumford’s always honest and melodic lyrics. Despite the lack of banjo, it still feels distinctively like a Mumford and Sons track; just sonically larger. Ultimately Mumford and Sons have triumphed in the field of anthemic guitar music as they always do, not even the loss of a banjo changes that.
