Single Review: So Long // Circa Waves

Circa Waves are an explosive four-piece based in Liverpool. Sound familiar? But the drum solo alone opening their latest single, ‘So Long,’ is enough to distinguish this band from previous musicians hailing from this musical city. The time spent with The Libertines on their European tour has influenced their music more than anything else; the reckless but sincere nature of the Cockney garage rockers translates well in the sound of the already energetic Circa Waves, adding that new level of excitement.

‘So Long’ does hold the same elements as their older stuff: the lively ‘Get Away’ and the hopeless romantic hidden behind a catchy riff in ‘Stuck in my Teeth’ are united in ‘So Long,’ which gives it a more mature feel. Their sound has progressed naturally, letting Circa Waves go from strength to strength. Depicted already is an ecstatic crowd dancing happily in their gigs.
