Art-music fusionists, Diagonal People have dropped their debut single. ‘ArmageddingItOn’ is an enticingly visualistic experience, even when your eyes aren’t glued to the rarefied video accompanying their first track.

These Swindonian art freaks go beyond the conventions, creating another-worldly sound. I can’t quite pin it down to anything yet, but the sonic vibrations and fluid, primeval rhythms pave a potentially high concept journey that leaves us desperate to discover where they’re at.

A particularly interesting aspect that Diagonal People boast is their outlandish use of art and craft; doused in paint and fluttering flutes of tissue paper, these facial creations harken back to the days of mammoth tusks and totemic cave drums.

The boisterous timbre is most strong during the bridge. High melodies float up, ascending like smoke from some sort of  Lost Boys-esque sacrificial fire-dance.

It’s clear that these boys are trying to stretch the boundaries. Be sure to keep up with Diagonal People (if you can), to see just how far they can take it.
