Single Review: Breathe // Knaves

Sheffield foursome, Knaves, have graced our ears with another stellar aural construction in the form of their debut single ‘Breathe’. Having already received airplay from BBC Introducing here in the Steel City, it’s clear that this band is making consistent progress as they hone their feel-good indie pop sound.

‘Breathe’ is an infectious little number, carried by Will Lloyd’s punchy beats, over which frontman Dan Cunningham layers a staccato-esque narrative. There’s a racing, anxious pace to the track which is bound to consume the listener until they’re singing “so come on now, so come on now let me be / so come on now, so come on now let me breathe” along with the band. Melodically, think Two Door Cinema Club; it’s jangly without being irritating and it’s a solid addition to any BBQ playlists.

We’re expecting big things from Knaves in months to come, so make sure you get your hands on a copy of this track. It’s set to be released on YouTube tomorrow and then on Spotify ten days later. If you can’t wait till then, check out this teaser on Facebook
