Neurodiverse Review have announced the shortlisted nominees for their first Neurodiverse Review Awards, which celebrates autistic, neurodiverse and disabled-led work at Edinburgh Fringe.
Neurodiverse Review has stated that they are holding these awards as “autistic, neurodiverse and disabled-led work can often be ignored or misunderstood … All our awards are open for anyone from our community.”
The Neurodiverse Review Awards are divided into seven categories each with four shortlisted nominees: Actually Autistic Excellence; ADHD Comedy Award; Neurodiversity Representation; Outstanding Visually Impaired Creative; and DeafAction.
The Birds of Paradise Theatre Company in conjunction with Neurodiverse Review are hosting the Birds of Paradise Exceptional Theatre and the Birds Of Paradise Emerging Artist awards. Nominees for the prior include Amy Bethan Evans (Tinted), Dan Daw (The Dan Daw Show), Chris Singleton (How To Be A Better Human) and Livia Kojo Alour (Black Sheep); and for the later Eric Yu (Death Of A Disco Dancer), Helena Fox (Blue & Pip), Laurie Owen (Some Other Mirror), and Laura Crow (Earwig).
Nominations were open from 5pm on 11 August until midnight on 20 August. The winners of the inaugural Neurodiverse Review Award will be announced at a private event at the Spiegeltent, St. James’s Centre, on Thursday 25 August at 3pm.
Neurodiverse Review is comprised of neurodiverse, autistic, and disabled creatives championing work by members of the neurodiverse community. All reviewers are neurodiverse, and the website only covers work led by members of the community.
