Gigglemug Theatre’s Scouts! The Musical will premiere at The Other Palace in June.

The family-friendly comedy musical takes place at the annual Scout Games, where scouts from across the world have joined to compete. When an intruder shows up, competitors Joe and Ayesha must work together and use their newly learned skills to save the competition.

It features a variety of music and dance styles, including tango dance breaks and a rock ballad between the Chief Scout and his true love Mother Nature.

The musical will have a limited run at The Other Palace from 20 June to 2 July.

Scouts! The Musical was chosen for BEAM2021, a showcase of new British musical theatre. The book was written by Gigglemug’s artistic director Sam Cochrane and features a score by David Fallon. The cast and creative team are yet to be announced.

Cochrane said: “David and I have been developing Scouts! The Musical in collaboration with The Scouts since 2019 and we are so incredibly excited to finally be getting this show on its feet.”

“As a company, we aim to create family-friendly new musicals which will leave people grinning for the rest of the day and we can’t wait to take audiences into the wild with us on this joyous adventure.”

Gigglemug Theatre were established in 2018, and they are known for creating comedy musicals. Their other works include Timpson: The Musical, Edinburgh Fringe hit RuneSical, and The Bean Spillers: The Improvised Musical.

The company have been working with the Scouts closely since 2019, and they hope that the musical will encourage young people to get involved in Scouts.
