Bridgerton actor Regé-Jean Page is the latest addition to a star-studded line-up for the Russo Brothers’ latest project, The Gray Man.
After his successful performance in one of Netflix’s biggest and most successful series to date, Page will be one of many starring in the adaptation of Mark Greaney’s 2009 novel of the same name. The Gray Man has been described as “the biggest-budget feature film in Netflix’s history”.
Page is set to star alongside Ryan Gosling, Chris Evans, Billy Bob Thornton, Ana de Armas, Alfre Woodard, Jessica Henwick, Wagner Moura, Dhanush, and Julia Butters. Evans will be playing the character of Lloyd Hansen, with Gosling starring opposite him as the titular protagonist, Court Gentry.
The Russo Brothers are best known for their work with Marvel, directing films such as Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Endgame. The Gray Man will see a lot of Marvel minds working on it, as screenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely (best known for their work on the Captain America franchise) have been announced as writers. Moreover, the brothers have also worked closely with members of the Avengers cast on non Marvel–related projects. This includes the late Chadwick Boseman in 21 Bridges (2019) and most recently Tom Holland in Cherry (2021).
The $200 million project will follow a CIA operative-turned-assassin in Europe. The action film’s plot is set to be on similar wavelengths to those of the world-renowned James Bond series.
Fittingly, de Armas most recently starred in the latest James Bond film No Time to Die; she has also previously worked with Evans on Knives Out (2019), and Gosling on Blade Runner 2049 (2017).
The original novel is the first of ten books, suggesting that the Russo Brothers could be set to helm the next big film franchise. Indeed, the directors have already confirmed that they do not plan to “answer every question” in The Gray Man, in the hopes that the film will be the first in a series.
The Gray Man is due to start production within the next few weeks.
