3) Alt-J
If there is one band that are simply not comparable with any other artist in the world, it’s certainly Alt-J. They are one of the most original sounding bands ever to grace the popular scene, and their second on the bill slot on the main stage last Friday proved beyond reasonable doubt that they are also one of the most finely-tuned and fascinating live acts in the world. Everything about the set fell into place perfectly – they were musically flawless, particularly in terms of the bizarre but unbelievable drumming courtesy of Thom Green, and their light show was absolutely unforgettable – in itself, it was a genuine work of art. The highlights of their set included ‘Dissolve Me,’ due to its heavy bass content and the sing-along induced by ‘Breezeblocks’ at the end of the show. The band have an unparalleled amount of talent and should certainly be considered one of the most important acts of our generation.
