4) Palma Violets
After Drenge played the main stage on Friday afternoon, it was time for a relatively similar act to entertain the crowd: Palma Violets. If one ever needed an example of upstaging, this is it. And that is by no means an insult to Drenge – they played a very impressive set. Instead, this is a compliment of the highest order to Jesson and co. It is rare to see such a chaotic scene within the first thirty seconds of a band gracing the stage, but rest assured that by the first chorus the Lambeth-based quartet played the crowd riled itself up into a fit of mosh-pit driven passion. The band highlighted the high quality of both of their albums and played an extremely crowd-pleasing set, finishing on ‘Best Of Friends,’ which looks set to become one of the defining rock songs of our generation. Bassist and singer Chilli Jesson connected with the crowd very effectively and bridged the gap between the band and their fans which served to create a unified atmosphere.
