6) Everything Everything
After releasing their third album earlier this year to high critical acclaim, Everything Everything played an outstanding show on the NME/BBC Radio 1 stage on Saturday evening at Reading festival. In a year that has finally thrown the quirky quartet into the limelight and seen their artistic genius recognised, playing a knock-out set at Reading probably seemed like the next logical step. And, in their typically liberated fashion, they did just that. One worry with zany bands like Everything Everything is that the brilliance they exude on their albums cannot be put across successfully live. However, Everything Everything refused to confine to stereotypes as usual and managed to create a brilliant live sound alongside a jovial mood amongst the crowd. Very few audience members felt like doing anything more than singing along and dancing somewhat embarrassingly – what more could you possibly want from the Manchester four-piece?
