3. Paul Siemmons (Tim McInnerny)

Tim McInnerny as Siemmons is more Belgian than any Belgian I’ve ever met— and I’ve met more than most. The fact that McInnerny was able to pin that down better than any of the other Brits playing different nationalities, despite having far, far fewer points of reference (maybe Tintin?) ranks the character very highly alone. The gung-ho, slightly sweaty, trigger happy character is a great foil to by-the-book Herman, and the two do create an interesting debate on the “right” way of dealing with evil. At many points I did find myself on Team Just Go Over and Shoot the Bastard, thanks to Paul. Laughs were rare in the series and most of them were down to Siemmons. A very cool guy.
