8.  Ajay Chowdhury (Amesh Edireweera)

Obviously Ajay was vile but he was definitely interesting. While Charles did seem basically void of any personality, I could very much understand why someone would follow Ajay to a party. He could be funny and warm, making his dog-like loyalty to Charles and the hideous crimes he committed all the more disturbing. But unlike the women, his dedication to his “brother” Charles, is far more understandable. We’re not given much of a backstory for Ajay, but from we do get, we can assume it wasn’t pretty. The solidarity between the two men, rejected by the racist and imperialist world they inhabited, is very convincing and adds an interesting layer to the story.
