Tramlines currently find itself sitting amongst esteemed company as one of the UK’s best medium-sized festivals and 2016’s event, which is the festival’s 8th installment, certainly has the promise to be the best one so far. The festival specializes in uniting people on all fronts and the music on offer certainly goes some way to fronting this. From rap mammoth Dizzee Rascal to the internationally renowned David Rodigan, it’s all there.

2015 brought the likes of Slaves and Basement Jaxx to the Steel City however this year’s festival entertains arguably its strongest set of headliners to date, with Dizzee Rascal, Catfish and the Bottlemen and Kelis all set to headline the metropolitan extravaganza. They will be joined by stellar names including hip-hop legends Jurassic 5, Young Fathers, Mystery Jets, Hinds and The Enemy.

The festival is not only a day event and the partying is set to continue late into the night. Clubs such as The Night Kitchen and Hopeworks will open its doors to the likes of My Nu Leng, Novelist and Sheffield’s own Toddla T for what’s set to some of the highlights of the festival.

Tramlines Festival sees the whole of Sheffield opening up in order to accommodate the festivities that are on offer. The venues range from local gig hotspots such as The Leadmill and the O2 Academy to more unconventional surroundings, which include the Cathedral and Queens Social Club – a venue which in recent years has entertained the likes of Foals and Peace. Combine this with the Main Stage that’s located in The Ponderosa and you have yourself an epic set of venues.

Despite being free upon its formation on 2009, Tramlines is now a ticketed event however the price on offer (£42) is a snip when you take into account the amount you get for such a small price. It’s worth noting that there is no camping available however there are a large amount of hotels and city-based accommodation on offer if you’re planning to stay in the city.

Tramlines will be held between the 22nd-24th July and tickets can be purchased here.
