Given that Festival Internacional de Benicàssim, also commonly referred to as FIB or Benicàssim, entertains some of the world’s biggest names, is situated on the beach and is almost half the price of most UK major festivals, you can hardly blame people for choosing to venture abroad in order to satisfy their musical desires. 2015 saw the likes of Blur and The Prodigy perform at the event and 2016 sees a huge step up in talent.
Some of the hottest acts are set to grace the festival, which is set to host its standard 4 days of full music. The headliners, which include Major Lazer, Muse, The Chemical Brothers and Kendrick Lamar, form part of a roster that’s teeming with musical names that simply cannot be missed.
They will be joined by grime pioneer Skepta, electronic duo Disclosure, The 1975 and The Maccabees. Biffy Clyro will also grace the Spanish festival, which is a further testament to the fact that they can entice the big hitters. Throw in indie heartthrob Mac DeMarco, Bloc Party and Jamie xx and it becomes increasingly hard to spot any faults in the plethora of talent that’s on show.
The festival excels in offering something for everyone, with a mixture of hard-hitting rock acts on offer, as well as the opposite end of the spectrum in the form of electro DJs. Benicàssim brings people together to celebrate a universal love for music, and where better to celebrate that than in the warm reaches of the Costa del Azahar. Most acts begin at 6pm with the headliners performing at around 1am, due to the high temperatures during the day.
With more than a week’s camping available, there’s certainly room to make a holiday out of the festival. Tickets can be purchased here, for just under £125, which is a complete snip considering what you’re getting. The festival will take place between 14th-17th July 2016.
