Frontier Development has announced that Planet Zoo is coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S on 26 March.

Zoo Tycoon’s successor Planet Zoo lets players create, customise and manage zoos with intuitive console controls all from the comfort of your couch.

The zoo management simulator has been loved for many over the past four years on PC, which saw regular free updates with DLC packs of new animals to care for. Console players will get to jump into all these features straight away.

There are four game modes to choose from: Career, Franchise, Challenge and Sandbox.

Career mode takes a fun spin on Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares with players venturing across the globe to help save failing zoos.

The Franchise mode welcomes the Animal Market, an online trading post where players can trade habituated animals with one another.

Challenge mode allows players to create their zoo from scratch and build its reputation while ensuring animal welfare and customer satisfaction are met. If that was not hard enough, players start this with a limited sum of money and Conservation Credits and balancing timed challenges.

Alternatively, there is the Sandbox mode which removes most of the business sentiments of the simulation to let players focus on their creativity at their own pace.

The suggested retail price of the game is £39.99 or £49.99 for the Deluxe Edition. The Deluxe Edition includes additional gameplay scenarios, animals and sceneries such as exploring Southeast Asia’s tropical rainforests and vibrant wetlands.

For players wanting a bit more, the Ultimate Edition is expected to cost £99.99 which includes all the above plus a season pass which grants access to 14 future console DLC packs.

All editions are available to pre-order now and by doing so will receive three exclusive animals: the Pygmy Hippopotamus, Komodo Dragon, and Thomson’s Gazelle.

Frontier Unlocked is hosting a livestream on 31 January at 6 PM for more details to be released.
