The first official trailer showing an inside look at the upcoming release of Pam & Tommy, a biographical drama series surrounding Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee’s lively marriage, has been released by Hulu.
The limited series is set to premiere on Hulu on Wednesday, February 2, 2022, also available on Disney+ worldwide. Episodes will be released weekly after the initial first three episodes air, bringing the mini-series to a total of 8.
Leading lady Lily James (Cinderella, Yesterday) will play Baywatch actress Pamela Anderson, with Marvel’s Sebastian Stan playing Motley Crue drummer, ex-husband, Tommy Lee. We will see James and Stan come together to tell the story of one of 1990’s top celebrity couples.
The series, touching down on the scandalous (now infamous) 1995 sex tape leak, is directed by Craig Gillespie (I, Tonya), who is tasked with the telling of the duo’s intimate, yet sensitive story. After a marriage less than a week after they met, they filmed private sexual activity during their honeymoon, which was stolen from their home.
In the trailer, we saw Lily James and Sebastian Stan flaunt their astonishing transformations into the couple of the century. James’ donned the infamous red Baywatch swimsuit, with Stan appearing a clone of Tommy, showing trademark piercings and tattoos. Recognisable faces, Seth Rogan and Nick Offerman, will also feature in the series, as thieves and the men responsible for the publicising of the private film.
Tommy Lee has shown interest and approval of the series, going as far as to describe it as a ‘‘beautiful story.’’ Anderson, however, has not been involved in the production despite Lily James’ hopeful attempts to reach out and get in touch. ‘’I was really hopeful that she would be involved. I wish it had been different’’ said James in a recent interview with Porter Magazine. Although controversial, the story of the high-profile Hollywood couple is one of the most highly anticipated releases of the 2022 new year.
Expect to see a dramatic account of Pam and Tommy’s love story in the biopic, as well as a romantic insight into their whirlwind relationship.
