Dearest readers, get ready. Netflix has released the official trailer for the upcoming third season of hit regency-drama, Bridgerton.

Based on the homonymous book series by Julia Quinn, Bridgerton has captured viewers’ and readers’ hearts in the last four years, ever since the first season introduced us to the members of the titular Bridgerton family for the first time. Ever since then, every season of the show has focused on a different Bridgerton sibling and their journey to finding true love. Contrary to the previous two seasons, the love interest in season three will be a familiar – and much-discussed after her actions in the previous season – character to Bridgerton audiences.

With its brand-new trailer, the familiar voice of our favourite author welcomes us back to Regency-era London as marriage season is, once again, in full bloom. While audiences may have to wait until May for the third season, the new Bridgerton footage already brings back some of the show’s signature traits. The tension between the two romantic leads is a clear example of what the show does best. No doubt this will be one of the reasons why viewers from all over the world will be ready to tune in once the show drops on Netflix.

As expected by Bridgerton fans, the season three trailer shines a light on the two protagonists of the season: Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton) and Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan). As revealed by the new footage, Penelope is determined to find a husband this season after being overlooked for so long. In doing so, she turns to Colin who intends to help her in this mission, at least until his heart and feelings get involved.

However, if this trailer, is any indication of how season three will go, the focus will not only be on Colin and Penelope’s love story. It seems that the other characters will get some attention too. First and foremost are fan-favourites Anthony (Jonathan Bailey) and Kate Bridgerton (Simone Ashley) who, after all the tribulations of season two, are now happily married. In the newest Bridgerton season, we will also get to see the journey of one of the younger Bridgerton sisters, Francesca (Hannah Dodd), who comes into society in this very season.

The first four episodes of Bridgerton’s third season will drop on Netflix on May 16th. The next four will release a month later on June 16th.
