“Time will kiss the world goodbye.” – ‘Falling Down’
It seems that anything released after the (What’s the Story) Morning Glory? album is easily forgotten, but this song, the final single released by Oasis, is up there with the best. ‘Falling Down’ poses as a threat, warning us about death and questioning the afterlife; this line in particular, which lingers through the song and hides beneath unrelenting drum beats and wary piano notes, is haunting, simply because of its ultimate truth. Whether or not, in an existential theory, time is real, there will be a point where the world will be kissed away. This song questions knowledge and the fragility of us all, resulting in a pretty amazing song.
