‘Sunday Morning Call’ is vastly underrated, even if Noel himself has claimed to hate the song. I recently listened to this track for the first time in a while and this lyric left me feeling quite numb. I interpret it as describing someone who has a lot to say with no way of saying it, or a lot to express without a talent in artistic expression. While this feeling is extraordinarily familiar in itself, Noel takes it beyond that. This lyric doesn’t just acknowledge that there are things that can’t be said, but also that the things that are said won’t last forever. It’s deep, I’ll say, and haunting; the way Noel sings it in the final chorus only emphasises this. It’s a line to find yourself pondering over in the dead of night, just like so many of Noel’s more philosophical lyrics.
