The Magicians of Caprona // Diana Wynne Jones
Again, it was hard to pick which book from which series, but I chose The Magicians of Caprona from Diana Wynne Jones’ Worlds of Chrestomanci books. The books followed a magical man called Chrestomanci, who had the power to slip into each different parallel universe. This book was set in a Italian kingdom called Caprona and focused on a very Romeo and Juliet-esque style of two feuding houses called Montana and Petrocchi. Dianna Wynne Jones won the World Fantasy Award for Achievement in 2007 and she definitely deserved it; my life revolved around her books for good few years and I can remember crying over my copy of Charmed Life when she died in 2011. The Magicians of Caprona was the second installment of the series, delving further into the world of magic, witchcraft and dark magic. Tomnino Montana and Angelica Petrocchi get kidnapped and the two feuding families are forced into behaving to save them from evil, and of course they have the help from Chrestomanci. These series were the first books that made me fall in love with the fantasy world and I was always felt distraught that nobody I knew had read them.
