New York’s Lincoln Center Theater’s critically acclaimed production of My Fair Lady will be shown at the Birmingham Hippodrome as part of their UK and Ireland tour.

After a successful premiere at the Lincoln Center’s Vivian Beaumont Theater in 2018, this revival of Lerner & Loewe’s beloved musical will make its way to Birmingham, with performances Wednesday 8 March–Sunday 26 March 2023.

My Fair Lady tells the story of Eliza Doolittle, a young flower seller with a strong Cockney accent and her chance encounter with Henry Higgins, a linguistics professor who bets that he can transform her into a conventional lady of high society. However, as the show progresses, one begins to question who is really undergoing a transformation?

The musical adaptation of George Bernard Shaw’s 1913 play Pygmalion made its Broadway debut in March 1956. It went on to win six Tony Awards including Best Musical, subsequently becoming the longest-running musical in Broadway history at the time.

Director Bartlett Sher expressed his excitement at bring the production back to life: “Getting a chance to revisit Shaw’s extraordinary story of class and privilege in a new age is a rare and special event and I am thrilled to be able to take this epic musical on tour for audiences up and down the country to enjoy.”

The show features choreography by Christopher Gattelli, sets by Michael Yeargan and costumes by Catherine Zuber. Casting is yet to be announced.

Tickets will be available for purchase on Birmingham Hippodrome’s website.
