The 2000s cult classic MTV Cribs is making its surprise return this August.
MTV made the announcement on 15 July with a 10-second trailer. The unlisted video sets the date for the reboot on 11 August.
The show, which first aired 20 years ago, looks into the lavish lifestyle of celebrities. It invites viewers to a tour of their homes, a look at their daily routines, as well as interviews with friends and family.
Current celebrities on the list include Martha Stewart, Rick Ross, Ashlee Simpson, and many more. Guests such as Jennifer Lopez, Huey Lewis, and Ricky Martin will also participate.
In a statement, series creator Nina L. Diaz said, “Cribs didn’t simply introduce the celebreality genre, it created a blueprint for how we engage on social media.”
“We are thrilled to usher in a new era of this iconic franchise for audiences around the world.” The Chief Creative Officer continues.
“Each intimate 30-minute episode will take viewers beyond security gates to hang out for an up-close-and-personal look, dropping even more legendary moments like never before,” a statement from MTV said.
MTV Cribs first aired in the 2000s and continued for over 13 seasons. It has since seen an international edition, which featured celebrities such as Gemma Collins and Alyssa Edwards, as well as a 2017 Snapchat series.
The original series showcased the houses of several stars. Snoop Dogg, Mariah Carey, and Ozzy Osbourne are among a few to have been featured.
Additionally, season two of the international edition is airing across its linear channels in two parts, beginning on August 2nd. The new episodes feature several UK celebs including Tyson Fury, Todrick Hall, and Kenya Moore.
Select episodes of the original series are available on MTV.com and for Paramount+ subscribers. The reboot coincides with a number of other shows that are relaunching such as MTV Unplugged and Behind the Music.
MTV Cribs will first air on Wednesday, 11 August at 9:30pm ET/PT.
