Starring: Ben Stiller, Naomi Watts, Adam Driver and Amanda Seyfried

Summary: Josh (Stiller) and Cornelia (Watts) are a married couple who both seem to have hit a mid life crisis, unable to find fun or even meaning to their lives they come across a young married hipster couple, Jamie (Driver) and Darby (Sayfried) who start to spice up their daily routine.

Directed and written by indie filmmaker Noah Baumbach, While We’re Young is a very intelligent movie to say the least. It deals with a lot more subjects that it presents in it’s trailer or even first act. The writing is delicious, it feeds each character with meaningful dialogue as well as creating a story that deals on a number of layers. I thought I’d be watching a light rom/com flick but I wasn’t, I was watching different human beings perspectives on life and ultimately art. It was a nice surprise. And I found myself really appreciating the films subjects such as plagerism, technology/social media and having children. All different subjects that affect everyone’s life either daily or for a single period. Not to mention great performances from Naomi Watts, Amanda Seyfriend and especially Adam Driver as Jamie, a stereotypical hipster filmmaker who actually has a lot more character than what the story first lets on. It’s smart directing and smart writing to create a smart film. While We’re Young is indie filmmaking at it’s finest.
