May’s releases see new adventures on VR, a sci-fi horror, the return of an old favourite and some comic characters battling it out in new tales and trials.

Prey

All aboard Talos I for this sci-fi horror FPS. In Prey, players take on the role of Morgan Yu, an inhabitant of the space station Talos I. Suffering from amnesia, Morgan must piece together not only what has happened to them, but what has happened on board the station. Using special abilities and skills, players must unravel this mystery and survive long enough to save humanity from the threat of the alien race called Typhon, who are lurking in the shadows waiting to strike.

Players who pre-order will unlock the Cosmonaut Shotgun Pack. This pack contains the Yu family Margrave shotgun, three Neuromods to help players learn and acquire new abilities, two medkits, fabrication plans for an additional shotgun and ammo along with a unique upgrade which allows players to preserve resources. The Steelbook Edition will feature artwork of both the male and female Morgan and a copy of the game’s soundtrack.

Prey will be available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC from May 5*

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series

Press play on a new mix-tape for this new episodic adventure. Take on the role of Star-Lord as the Guardians take on Thanos himself in this new story. After receiving a distress call from the Nova Corps, Peter Quill and his crew must take on the galactic tyrant as he seeks for the Eternity Forge – an ancient artifact that holds the potential for unlimited power. However, the crew finds that Thanos is not the only force they have to contend with.

This Season Pass disc release will give players instant access to episode one of the five part story – “Tangled Up In Blue” – and to each of the remaining chapters on release. With new characters joining the story in this all-new adventure, fans of the franchise will have the chance to step into Star-Lord’s shoes as they make their way through the galaxy, one song at a time.

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series will be available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC from May 5*

Farpoint

Immerse yourself in a whole new experience with this virtual reality experience. Set off for uncharted territory to reach the crew of The Pilgrim – a crashed space station which has found itself on an alien world. Joining with your crew, players must navigate this new world, master the terrain, find a way to return home and uncover the secrets of the Anomaly – the reason behind the Pilgrim‘s journey and your own.

For Farpoint, players can use the traditional controller to help navigate their course, or they can use the new Aim Controller. Available in a special bundle with the game, the Aim controller allows for more accurate movement and tracking while playing, with improved accuracy to assist gameplay. The controller is also available in a second bundle with the game and PSVR hardware. Players who pre-order the game – or either bundle – will receive the exclusive Red Planet Wanderer spacesuit on launch.

Farpoint will be available on PlayStation 4/PlayStation VR from May 17*

Injustice 2

The world of heroes and villains awaits in this action-packed sequel. In Injustice 2, players will be able to build their roster of DC characters as the world around them recovers from the event of the first chapter. Their peace is soon shattered by the arrival of “The Society” – a new group of villains led by Gorilla Grodd – whose goal is world domination and also the sudden appearance of Brainiac. With new foes to fight, a new team of combatants must be formed under Batman’s leadership to protect the Earth.

Alongside the returning characters will be a host of new playable icons from the DC universe – including Deadshot, Firestorm, Poison Ivy, Cheetah and Captain Cold – joining the Dark Knight on his mission. The Deluxe Edition will include 3 additional DLC fighters, a premier skin – which will allow Supergirl to become Power Girl – and a Defender Shader pack to give a new look to a player’s entire roster. The Deluxe Edition will also be packaged in a special steelbook case. Players who pre-order will also be able to play as Darkseid from launch.

Injustice 2 will be available on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 from May 19*

Ultra Street Fighter II – The Final Challengers

The combat classic arrives on Nintendo Switch this month. Ultra Street Fighter II players will be able to battle it out against classic opponents such as M.Bison and Akuma to prove they are the champion fighter. Available for application is the pixel art design, for those looking to enjoy the game in its classic style. Also accessible is the updated style from Street Fighter IV and beyond.

Alongside the classic characters, two new combatants join the roster. Evil Ryu arrives from Street Fighter Alpha 2, while Violent Ken makes his official Street Fighter début. Also new for Ultra Street Fighter II is the “Way of the Hado” – a new game mode which puts players in the shoes of Ryu in a first person challenge where he must survive as waves of Shadaloo Soldiers – as well as M. Bison himself – take him on. For those looking to team up with friends, the “Buddy Battle” mode will allow for two on one combat against a new CPU challenge.

Ultra Street Fighter II – The Final Challengers will be available on Nintendo Switch from May 26*

Star Trek: Bridge Crew

Go boldly where few players have been before with this new chapter of the Star Trek story. Set after the events of the 2009 film, Star Trek: Bridge Crew puts players on-board the U.S.S Aegis. Tasked with finding a new home-world for the surviving Vulcans, the ship must explore a region of space known as “The Trench” – which is currently under the dominion of the Klingon Empire. With this new region of space will be new planets to explore and obstacles to overcome to find a lasting peace for all.

Star Trek: Bridge Crew can be played solo or with up to four players – each with their own part to play. With four positions on ship available – Engineer, Helm, Tactical and Captain – players must work together on this new ship to succeed in their missions. With randomly generated missions alongside the story, this virtual reality experience will provide a new insight into this iconic series.
