Eska

Eska Mtungwazi’s eponymous debut was a labour of love, it took 5 years before fans were able to get their ears on it. The album stands at a brief 36 minutes long but is sure to make every second count; the record is a melting pot of influences and lyrical themes. From the reggae tinged ‘Heroes and Villains’ to the global folk construction ‘This Is How a Garden Grows’, back to the odes to lovers lost, there’s surely something for everyone to relate to with Eska’s debut.

She’s no stranger to the industry, despite Eska being her debut – she’s spent a decade working as a session singer for Tony Allen, Matthew Herbert and Grace Jones. However, it’s entirely possible that it could be with the Mercury Prize 2015 that Eska gets her big break.
