ITV’s new show Mamma Mia! I Have a Dream will search for two actors to play the leading roles of Sophie and Sky in the West End production of Mamma Mia!.
The eight-part series will audition hopefuls up and down the nation with difficult challenges and gruelling masterclasses. Judges and guest stars include well-known industry experts who are on hand to guide contestants through the competition. In a dazzling finale broadcast from a West End theatre, the two victors will be announced and win the coveted leading roles.
Co-executive producer Judy Cramer highlights Mamma Mia!’s history of championing new talent: “Mamma Mia! has always been a show that has […] given opportunities to those making their stage debuts – just as our current Sophie and Sky in London (Meg Hateley and Miles Henderson) are making their West End debuts – so it feels the perfect fit for a TV show that will seek out new talent”.
The show will be filmed against the backdrop of the Greek islands on which the original Mamma Mia! is set, giving it a feel entirely different to any other TV competition audiences have seen before. With the musical set to celebrate its 25th year in the West End in 2024, this feels like a timely celebration of the joyous production.
