Point-and-click adventure Makibishi Comic is to make a comeback after 17 years, as Japanese indie developer lidlocks is set to release a remaster on Steam.

First released as a browser game in 2007, Makibishi Comic puts players in the role of an Assassin. Tasked with finding five hidden ninjas, players must explore each area in detail to not only bring the world around them to life but help them find their elusive targets.

With levels exploring underground laboratories, withered forests and even space exploration, the game’s colourful cast of characters, intriguing puzzles and unique art style proved popular with fans and critics in the original release, as the game was shortlisted in numerous festivals and awards.

More than 10 million people have played the original Makibashi Comic since it was first released, with Gungho Games porting the game to iPhone and iPod Touch devices in 2009.

The Makibishi Comic Remaster will be available on Steam from April 11, 2024, and is available on Wishlist now.
