Amazon Games has announced changes coming to European servers for the MMO ARPG Lost Ark in the wake of player complaints.

The move comes after players in Europe noticed that they were facing longer queue times to access the game since it launched earlier this month. The game’s development team noted in a blog post that they were aware of issues due to the Europe Central server reaching full capacity, meaning players had to wait for others to leave the server so they could play.

The post explains “The Europe Central region is at capacity and unfortunately there is no way to increase the number of players per world in Europe Central. Adding more servers is not possible based on the complexity of all the systems that need to work together.”

Amazon Games have now offered a solution to come players with the creation of the Europe West server to ease congestion and allow more people to play Lost Ark. In a statement to Eurogamer, they explained that the new server “…now houses just under 20 percent of our European players and is growing every day”

The new server does have one major pitfall – no cross-progression. This means that players already in the Europe Central server would have to start their game again from the beginning should they wish to move to the new Europe West server. This will also apply to the game’s Power Pass but players who do choose to switch servers will be given two free Power Passes on the Europe West server once their first character reaches 50 and they complete the Ealyn’s Gift mission.

Lost Ark is available now for free on PC.
