T in the Park has cemented itself in being Scotland’s biggest music festival since its first weekend in 1994; in their first year, they hosted headliners Rage Against the Machine and Primal Scream. Since then, it has expanded into a three-day event, with acts now performing at the Strathallan Castle in Perthshire, during the second weekend of July. The main headliners this year are The Stone Roses, Calvin Harris and Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Supporting acts across the weekend include the likes of Bastille, The Courteeners, Jess Glynne and James Bay, as well as host of old favourites such as Shed Seven and Travis. In addition, some artists will be revealing material from their newly released albums, such as The 1975, The Last Shadow Puppets, Frightened Rabbit, Jake Bugg and Catfish and the Bottlemen – the latter of whom also appeared last year on the Radio 1 Stage to a massive turnout.

And it’s not just rock offered on the line-up. T in the Park has always been a haven for EDM and house fans and this year is no exception. Disclosure, Jamie xx and Oliver Heldens are set to take the stage on Friday, while Faithless, Major Lazor and Chase & Status are all scheduled for the Sunday evening. We expect Calvin Harris’ performance to be an impressive, given his triumphant headline stint at the festival two years ago that came with an introduction from none other than Will Smith.

We can not forget the infamous Slam Tent, which was originally called the Dance Tent until 1996 and has provided just that – a selection of powerhouse dance and techno DJs that are sure to satisfy all ravers attending the festival. This year, the bill includes Len Faki, Rachie Hawtin, Jeff Mills and Nina Kavriz, as well as the eponymous residents themselves, Slam.

As well as the traditional Thursday night entertainment – which sees King Tut’s Wah Wah Tent opened early for the first time – the site’s area has now expanded in size by up to a third, with King Tut’s also being moved right in front of the site’s castle. These are just a few changes among many that will hopefully make the experience even more enjoyable than we have seen in previous years.
