On Friday night I got the chance to sit down with upcoming band The Barmines before their EP launch gig at The Wardrobe in Leeds.
Having listened to the band a couple of times before I wanted to know where their unique sound came from. With obvious influences from bands such as Arctic Monkeys, singer Rob Burton confirms this is the case with other band such as Oasis and The Jam taking a role in influencing the band’s sound. With no plans of an album release yet they tell me that they plan on putting out a few more EPs and then maybe another tour at the end of the year. But tonight the focus is purely on their new single ‘These Days & Nights’

Having had the stage warmed by bands such as 30/32, Pin Stripe Tuesday and The Black Delta Movement, it’s 10pm when The Barmines take to stage and receive a warm welcome from their dedicated fans which have packed out this venue.
Their lively indie rock sound gets the crowd going, not long into their set the band play ‘These Days & Nights’ which to say hasn’t been out long the crowd have no problem in singing the words right back at them. They continue their set with ‘Feel Good’ ‘1990’ ‘Interstellar’, ‘Strangers’ and end their chaotic set on ‘Sky’s The Limit’ but all this just wasn’t enough for this Leeds crowd and The Barmines are forced to return to stage to play ‘These Days & Nights’ for the second time that evening, they are greeted on stage by a massive stage invasion that swamps the band but they carry on playing through it all to pull off one of the most entertaining gigs I’ve been to. They are certainly a band to watch in 2015.
