So Long Astoria // The Ataris

I started playing shows when I was 17 and it’s followed me now to the age of 23. I’ve always loved it but I felt like one of the first really, really cool moments when it came to music was opening up for Kris Roe of the Ataris. So Long Astoria was the first album I bought with my own money after hearing the song ‘Radio #2’ on NHL 2004. The record is nearly flawless and when my previous band got to open for Kris, he dedicated ‘Looking Back on Today’ to me.

That was one moment of playing in my local scene that will always stick out to me. Of course, a year after I played that show, Roe had a hissy fit and threw a drum set at someone on stage, followed by the worst, most backhanded and insincere apology video ever. I like to forget about that though.
