Crash Bandicoot
In the late 1990’s/early 2000’s I had a couple of obsessions in my life – the pop group Steps (don’t judge me because I still love them) and Crash Bandicoot. This bright, brash platform game was another one that I spent time on instead of doing schoolwork. Running around deserts and tombs on the Wumpa Islands hunting for crystals before facing off against the evil Doctor Neo Cortex…couldn’t ask for much more than that.
Now I’m able to look back on it a little deeper. It was the first game that I saw evolve when a new title came out and seeing how the story, gameplay and characters changed and adapted. As odd as it sounds, it felt like it was growing up with me. It was also a game that all my family played at some point – which made it a very rare thing indeed and probably one of the reasons while I will always have a special place in my heart for the anthropomorphic bandicoot.
