The Impossible

There was something about The Impossible which really hit home when I watched it, sitting in the living room surrounded by those I love more than anything else in the world. Based on a true story, the film documents the holiday of one family after it goes wrong in every way possible. A tsunami separates them, and it seems like they will be parted forever. Although it may look like I have a penchant for disaster movies, I’m really only including this one for its ending (and, I’m not going to lie, Ewan McGregor). The movie opened my eyes to the devastating effects that natural disasters can have, sure. But more than anything else it showed me how important family is – this film made me realise the insignificance of the little sibling squabbles, of the parental tiffs. At the end of the day, your family is what you’d fight to the death for.
