Oliver Twist // Charles Dickens

I read this when I was about 11 because, honestly, I was quite bored with kids books and wanted to move up a level. It introduced me to more classical literature, and I was really engrossed by the story until the very end. Unfortunately, upon further probing into older literature,  I soon discovered that not all of Dickens’ writing was this great, and also that just because a book is regarded as a ‘classic’ by teachers it doesn’t mean that the book is in fact any good for me personally. I loved the setting and bleak outlook on life that exists in Oliver Twist, and I continue to love it to this day.
