It’s been 25 years since Oasis played one of the most notable events of the ‘90s – Knebworth 1996. To commemorate the date, Liam Gallagher has announced a return to the infamous field with huge concerts on 3rd and 4th June 2022, alongside this adding two more dates in Manchester (1st) and Glasgow (26th) to support the release of his upcoming third album C’mon You Know.
Keen fans will have recently seen Oasis Knebworth 1996, a documentary film released in cinemas that showcases the original footage from the Gallagher brother’s peak popularity – footage that hadn’t been seen in full since the live broadcast of the event itself. 250,000 fans attended the record-breaking event – and Gallagher’s anniversary aims to bring back the emotion with tracks from all his albums and surely a strong selection of Oasis tunes. Knebworth’s history has succeeded the band itself, and whilst many fans are certain one day the brothers will reform the band, next summer’s shows will give eager listeners the chance to feel connected with the band once again.
Gallagher will be bringing a host of famous acts including The Streets, Kasabian, Michael Kiwanuka, Fat White Family and Goat Girl. The massive live show will be a moment of reminiscence for many, bringing back the excitement of 1996. Even the support acts feel connected closely to the original gig, as The Chemical Brothers, Ocean Colour Scene, Manic Street Preachers and The Prodigy preceded the stage before Oasis.
June is set to be Liam Gallagher’s month, especially for those who have dreamed for Oasis songs to be back at Knebworth once again. Tickets for Knebworth sold out in an instant, but general sale for Manchester (Etihad Stadium) and Glasgow (Hampden Park) go on sale Fri 15th October 2021.
