KAYTRANADA has dropped his first solo release of 2021 with instrumental track ‘Caution’ released on Thursday, 18 February.
The new number was made by the Haitian-Canadian artist for a TikTok initiative focusing on Black History Month. The track has now been shared as a single, much to the satisfaction of his devoted fans.
‘Caution’ is a vintage-sounding track that seamlessly blends funk, disco, and house into his signature sound. KAYTRANADA’s last solo release was the instrumental version of his critically acclaimed 2019 album BUBBA, which earned him a short-listed position for the 2020 Polaris Music Prize. His debut album 99.9% won the prize after its release in 2016.
‘Caution’ is the first release from KAYTRANADA since receiving three Grammy nominations for the 2021 awards. His 2019 single ‘10%’ has been nominated for Best Dance Recording as well as earning him a nomination for Best New Artist.
BUBBA has also been nominated for Best Dance/Electronic Album, after it climbed to number one on the Billboard Electronic Albums chart and number three on the Billboard R&B Albums chart upon its release.
As an artist who has really honed their reputation of producing smooth, effortlessly cool and addictive club records, KAYTRANADA now has his listeners eagerly awaiting his next album.
